be mine.

All the talks about Valentines – and here are my thoughts…

I used to dress up all fancy and Brady would take me out to a fancy dinner at a fancy five star restaurant, but we quit that. We then went to a mediocre restaurant thinking the service would be better, but nope! Their service would be horrid and some of the food would come out cold! After several bad experiences, we decided to no longer dine out on Valentine’s Day! I felt that restaurants over book people on Valentine’s Day. At the one fancy five star restaurant (that recently made a national name for itself), we were literally elbow to elbow to the people next to us and we were just not cool with that. It was not romantic at all! We were not going to pay $200 for food that is supposed to be top notch, lacking service, and hearing boring conversations from neighbors ever again!

Instead, we now…

Dress up fancy and dine in the comfort of our one and a half story home. We purchase fancy meat cuts from a butcher or anywhere that has high quality foods. For our friends that do not eat meat, just buy fancy food and cook. :) Brady typically cooks because you know, he’s kind of better at it and I’d be so upset if I destroyed cooking a Wagu steak. Yikes. I usually grab fancy dessert as well from a bakery/café. At the end of the night, I can just crawl into bed and be happy and feel loved. Happy ending story.

And if you have kid(s)...

You can still make the night all romantical! Include your baby/babies. Cook up a meal that fits everyone and make crafts together. Like Thanksgiving, you can share some things you love about each other! And if it is possible, find a sitter so you can have a special night out with your special Valentine. Just the two of you!!

Whatever you do…

Just make sure your special one is reminded on a day to day basis how wonderful they are. Every day before work or leaving each other for an outing or whatever the occasion, Brady and I give each good-bye kisses and tell each other “I love you.”

So, stop sitting there and plan already if you haven’t!!!! If you do plan to dine out, restaurants book fast, so book early. If you plan to cook together, find a nice recipe and cook together. :) ♥
